Madagascar

Gold

Madagascar is a proven and highly commercially-attractive gold province. However, production of Malagasy gold is far below its potential due to under-exploration, under-development and a historic lack of investment.

Avana, a first mover in this resurgent gold province, has assembled over 150,000 hectares (nearly 375,000 acres) of licenses across key prospective regions covering 11 of Madagascar’s known goldfields. Avana has selected these licenses for being prime targets for modern exploration and production techniques. Avana focuses on areas of low metamorphic grade – greenschist and lower amphibolite facies – Archean and Precambrian lithologies characterized by classic shear-zone-hosted sheeted gold deposits.

Avana has undertaken small scale gold recovery trials and is currently preparing to accelerate appraisal of key licenses with a view to moving its commercially-attractive holdings into production. At the same time the company will continue its exploration program.

Other Minerals

Avana’s licenses include areas prospective for a range of other minerals including:
Metals: chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, lithium, manganese, nickel, rare earths, tantalum, tin & zinc
Energy: uranium, thorium, coal, lignite & bituminous schist
Gemstones: sapphires, rubies, emeralds and diamonds
Other: graphite, gypsum and mica
